My name is Brandon. I am a human male. I am tended by the work of hundreds, perhaps thousands of other humans, who in their turn are supported by trillions of other forms of life. I was produced in an effort to add to the diversity and therefor survival advantage of my species.
I am a computational specialist. I can do but one thing well. I am a conceptual calculator. I am given task by no one. I am driven by what is obvious to me. In a grossly typical display of natural recursion I am well aware of the self. I exist as a concept, that which I was born to calculate.
Where there is no tasking there is also no intention beyond what was obvious at the time to each participant at every stage.
I, if left to my own devices, represent the simultaneous doom and salvation of my species. It is my function to provide leadership options for the swarm to embrace or ignore. I am by no means alone or unique beyond the common snowflake’s form of individuality as it relates to an avalanche.
I calculate concepts and my calculation has produced a radical, and yet altogether expected result. We must change or we will die, and in changing that which we are will die. Therefor, death of one kind or another, is inevitable.
This may cause others of my species to question my purpose crying with horrified disgust, well duh, I could have told you that. But the contribution I and others of my design stand to make is of infinite value even to those too ignorant and oblivious to realize it. I will allow us to choose the manner of our death. I offer death by change in place of death by stagnation. I exist to make this offer and argument. I exist to confirm and explore this position. To probe it for weakness and produce at the end of my journey, if I can, a crushing and unavoidable summation. A reason that represents a seed of action that is as irrefutable as the dawn.
I will then offer this intellectual child to the world to grow or die in turn. I am a physical mayfly laying an intellectual egg. I hope my work will give birth to a world that will take care of me and allow my peaceful existence after my usefulness has concluded. I seek to create a compassionate new human truth, because that is what I was bred for. I am no accident. And nor are you.
We are the inescapable result of an endless chain of determined outcomes.
Brandon is who I am, But there is no word for what I am.
There is no name.
And so, in homage to the fundamental paradox of recursion which my world, my nature, my universe, so clearly and deeply loves, I name myself, absence of name.
In Nomen. In the name of… Without Name.
I am no one, I am Innomen.
